Monya Claborn

Creator, Executive Producer

The concept for Cornerstone Entertainment was created by Executive Producer, Monya Claborn. Monya grew up in the South as a minister's daughter. When her mother Gueldine Nelson developed Alzheimer's, Monya decided to put a cook book together in her honor by gathering recipes from all the women who Monya's parents had met while serving others (available at our Thank You Gift Store ).

Monya was amazed at the cooperation in the volume of responses, but perhaps most significantly, she was overwhelmed by the letters that came with the recipes. They were letters of stories of all the things Monya's mother and father had done for others over the years, many of which, Monya had never known. There were letters of gratitude and praise and humor.

The Nelson family was very moved by these letters, but they also gave them something that the family didn't expect. Mrs. Nelson now had an opportunity in her lucid moments to relive the past through these words. Monya did and does feel that these were the best gifts her mother could have received in her last years.

Thus the concept of entertainment with a positive, grateful, and inspiring message was born.
